Ms Cheung served as Education Officer in the Government Education Department before her retirement. She suffered from nasopharyngeal cancer in 1983. Since 1985 after recovery, she has voluntarily participated in cancer support services; setting up the Chinese-speaking Cancer Hotline, meeting patients ,writing newspaper columns about cancer, reporting enlightening cases of coping with cancer; publishing a number of books about cancer and sharing experience in public talks on cancer. She was awarded an Outstanding Young Person in 1989. Since then, she has been giving talks in schools as an ex-cancer patient to inculcate in youngsters positive attitude in times of adversity. she has also organised the Cancer Comrades Dinner annually to bring together all cancer fighters to reinforce mutual help and support. Having experienced cancer at young age. She feels blessed to be able to help fellow cancer patients.
